New Post: Combres is now hosted in GitHub

I've moved Combres to GitHub. The reasons are:

Most my FOSS projects are in GitHub, it's easier for me to manage if everything's there
GitHub is a better code collaboration platform

I will not commit code to the CodePlex repository anymore.

Combres has evolved to a stage where it is very stable and feature-rich. I will likely not add functionality to it and only maintain by making sure it works with new releases of ASP.NET, YUI, dotLess etc. That said, I do accept pull requests. I hope the move to GitHub makes it easier for people to contribute to Combres.

Note that Combres.Log4Net is now a separate dependency, so if you want logging, you will need to install it separately. Combres is now free from log4net, so that those who don't need logging won't be bothered again with unnecessary dependency.

First of all must be thank you for good tools that provide.

I use your tools in my project and there is a problem in it. I use 'border-radius' css3 property like this:

...

border-radius: 100% / 8px;

...

after running Combres this rule convert to:

border-radius: 12.5%;

but this means different from my value.

Is there any solution for this problem?

Hi, i keep getting a 404 error in sitecore using combres.
I'm sure almost everything is setting up perfectly but there must still be something wrong. The combined css file is generated but http://domain.com/combres.axd/siteHeaderJs/-1139431538/ still gives a 404 (Not Found)

I also followed the following tutorial but still the same result. http://sitecoresnippets.blogspot.be/2011/06/combine-and-minify-javascript-css-in.html

Can someone please help me with this?

It's been a long time since that issue, And I just tried to update my log4net to version 2.0.0. and it still has that issue.

Install-Package : Updating 'log4net 1.2.11' to 'log4net 2.0.0' failed. Unable to find a version of 'combres' that is compatible with 'log4net 2.0.0'.

Hello,

personally i would not want a file to be skipped as it might contain vital information for the site.

But, as a work-around you could modify the combres file "Combres\Engine\ResourceContentReader.cs" around line 105 from:

catch (WebException ex) { 
  throw new ResourceNotFoundException(resource.Path, ex); 
}

catch (WebException ex) { 
  content = string.Empty; 
}

I was using stackdump on my production server to see why there was so much cpu used.

And I found that MonitorDynamicChanges take a lot of thread. As this method is supposed to take only one thread, I'm thinking there may be a bug. Can you tell me if this is a normal behavior ?

There has been some confusion about using the latest version of Combres:

Downloads: all binary downloads are obsolete, you should grab from NuGet for latest versions of Combres. To avoid future confusion, I've deleted the binaries associated with these CodePlex releases. In addition, for each new release of Combres, I'll add a blank release pointing to NuGet and make it the default page you see when going to the Downloads page.
Source Code: previously the "Latest Version" section of this page will bring you to a very old release (Jan 2011). The reason is that CodePlex expects me to mark a commit with a specific tag ("default") for it to appear in Latest Version. I have missed this requirement and just discovered it just now (let's say GitHub has spoiled me). From now on, in the convention of CodePlex, I'll maintain 2 tags:
1. default: point to the relatively latest source commit (might not always be the latest in case I make interim or untested change); if you want to get the latest fixes and features, build from this source
2. stable: point to the code associated with the most latest NuGet release

If any of you come across a bug/issue that I claim to have fixed, e.g. the notorious content-type getting lost issue, it's most likely you're using a old version of Combres. Please upgrade to the latest version of Combres from NuGet or build from the latest "default" commit.

BTW, what do you think about migrating Combres to GitHub?

Ok, I got it. The CodePlex source link doesn't point to the real latest (still try to figure out why), instead it points to a release in Jan 2011, before the fix was made. That's why many people building from source still face the issue. Either download via NuGet or build from the "real" latest source (http://combres.codeplex.com/SourceControl/changeset/359a404e315c) should fix the issue.

I will delete all binary downloads from Combres as well as fix this wrong latest code pointer.

So bottom line: if anyone still has this issue, please upgrade to latest via NuGet or download code from http://combres.codeplex.com/SourceControl/changeset/359a404e315c and build it.

It's a bit weird. The assemblyinfo.cs for the main combres project says 2.1.0.0 and the requestprocessor.cs doesn't seem to match the line numbering for the fixes you've mentioned above in this thread. I downloaded the zipfile that seems to be the latest as far as i can determine (the download link on the page http://combres.codeplex.com/SourceControl/list/changesets ) so i haven't used mercurial to download it. Anyway, I updated one of my sites via nuget and so far, we haven't seen this issue again. I have two more sites I need to update and I've actually already tried to this for them too but so far I've had a lot of problems with getting Less to work after updating so I've had to revert back to the old one. This is a topic for another thread though.

@jantila: what do you mean by "but when you get the source - also from here - you get what appears to be 2.1.0.0"? the source is always the latest source, even latest than the 2.2.2.6.
